Why WordPress?

In 2003, WordPress.com was launched with a very singular purpose, to provide an easy to use, no frills blogging site for people with little or no technical understanding of blogging. Twenty years later, WordPress has grown beyond simple posts and comments to an ecosystem that includes pages, themes, plugins, integrations, and media. With thousands of free themes and a mature database backend, WordPress can host the most obscure niche blog, while handling the heavy traffic of a large e-commerce site

Because it casts such a wide net, WordPress has become the world’s best known, and most popular website development platform. It also has a huge community of knowledgeable users, eager to help fellow WordPressers solve common, and not so common, development issues. When I started my WordPress journey about eight years ago, the final selling point for me was their very engaged community of professional and mature users.
